Itinerary.
Salisbury Cathedral – The medieval city of Salisbury home to one of Englands most renowned cathedral's built in 1258 and still a place of pilgrimage after 750 years. Completed in just 38 years and home to one of only four surviving copies of the Magna Carta. You can either join the tour of the cathedral or wander along the cobbled streets of this ancient town by yourself.
Old Sarum - The great earthwork of Old Sarum standing near Salisbury on the edge of Wiltshire’s chalk plains over looking the city of Salisbury. Its mighty ramparts were raised in about 500 BC by Iron Age people, and later occupied by the Romans, the Saxons and, most importantly, the Normans who built Old Sarum Castle. The castle no longer remains but its memory cast's its shadow over the site.
The Pub- As far as we're concerned one of the highlights of the day. We stop for lunch at a English country pub serving a selection of traditional local ales and locally sourced food.
Stonehenge – After lunch we head towards Stonehenge a world heritage site, estimated to be over 5000 years old. Stonehenge’s world wide renown belies the fact that even today the reason it was built remains a subject of debate and mystery.
Avebury Stone Circle- Driving through the countryside we pass the famous white horse carved into the chalk hillside.Avebury built by Neolithic man from about 2850BC -2200BC. Avebury stone circle represents the largest and most complex pre historic site in Britain.
